On Friday, our community gathered at The Doylo for the ANZAC day dawn service where our College Captains had the honour of opening the ceremony with a heartfelt speech about ANZAC Day, reflecting on its meaning, the sacrifices made, and the gratitude we owe to those who have given so much. Their words touched on the profound losses and the enduring spirit of reflection and remembrance.
It was great to see staff, students and their families attend the dawn service and the 8:30 AM march followed by a commemorative service. They displayed reverence and respect by attending the heartfelt service that honoured those who have served and continue to serve our country. A few students wore medals with pride to honour their family members who have served. Thank you to the Vice Captains Abbey and Jerome as well as the Student Leaders Samuel and Bella for the laying of the wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of the St. Brigid’s Community.
A special mention goes to Lilly McFadden and Elly Abbott, who should be incredibly proud of themselves, as are we as a community. Coming together on a day like today to pay tribute to those who have given us our freedom is a powerful reminder of our unity and shared values. Lilly and Elly were asked by Yasmin Catley, our Local State Member, to send their speeches to her office so she can present them to parliament. What a great honour for our Captains and us as a community.
It was lovely to see so many of our students in attendance, to all our students, staff, and parents in attendance, thank you for standing shoulder to shoulder with us as a united community to remember our ANZACs and all those who still serve today.
