Sunday of the long weekend marked Pentecost Sunday, a significant day in the Christian calendar that commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. Celebrated on the fiftieth day of the Easter season, this event symbolises the moment the Apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit and gifted with the ability to speak in different languages.
To honour this sacred occasion, members of the congregation at St Mary’s Church participated in a special Mass where the Prayers of the Faithful were spoken in various languages—reflecting the miracle of Pentecost.
St Brigid’s was proud to be represented by two staff members and two students who volunteered to read prayers in foreign languages. A heartfelt thank you to Mr Richardson, Mrs Giblin, Olivia C, and Toby W for their beautiful contributions. We also extend our gratitude to Mrs Richardson, who attended and read a prayer as well.
Your efforts brought a rich and meaningful diversity to the celebration. Thank you all for speaking so beautifully and helping bring the spirit of Pentecost to life.
