A New Chapter for Youth Ministry at St Brigid’s

Back

This year marks an exciting new beginning for Youth Ministry at St Brigid’s with the launch of our new name and logo: Alight Youth Ministry. The name Alight reflects our mission to inflame hearts and minds in Christ, spark faith, inspire hope, and encourage young people to shine brightly in our school community. With this renewed identity, Alight Youth Ministry continues its commitment to supporting students in their spiritual, personal, and communal growth.
Students and staff are warmly invited to join the Rosary Group every Tuesday morning at 7:50am, a peaceful way to begin the day in prayer and reflection. Each Wednesday at Break 1, students gather for our weekly Youth Ministry meeting—an open, welcoming space where ideas are shared, friendships are formed, and initiatives are planned. Throughout the year, students also have the opportunity to participate in a range of retreats, events and pilgrimages such as Connecting Catholic Coasties, the Venio Youth Ministry Retreat, and the Ignite Youth Conference. These experiences create lasting memories, deepen faith, and strengthen connections within the wider Catholic community.

Youth Ministry at its heart seeks to accompany students on their faith journey, offering guidance and support through the highs and lows of high school. It provides opportunities to learn about the Catholic faith and what it means to belong to the Universal Church, while also helping young people grow in confidence and develop leadership skills grounded in service and compassion. In a safe and welcoming environment, students are encouraged to be authentically themselves and to connect with others who share similar values.

The teenage years can be a roller coaster, full of change, growth and discovery, which is why Youth Ministry plays such an important role. It helps young people navigate questions of identity and purpose, build life‑giving friendships, and form meaningful connections with God, others and themselves. Through involvement in Youth Ministry, students also develop valuable life skills—leadership, organisation, time management and teamwork—that extend far beyond school. Most importantly, it opens doors to a wide range of opportunities and experiences that help shape students into confident, thoughtful, and faith-filled young adults.

As Alight Youth Ministry begins this new chapter, we look forward to continuing to build a vibrant, inclusive and faith‑filled community at St Brigid’s. All students are invited to get involved and discover the joy, friendship and purpose that comes from being part of Alight Youth Ministry.
