A Community of Faith & Belonging

Back

Being part of a Catholic school community is about far more than education; it is about belonging to a faith-filled family that walks together in purpose, hope, and love. At St Brigid’s Catholic College, this sense of family is at the heart of who we are. Catholic schools exist not simply to teach, but to share in the mission of the Church—to proclaim the Good News and to help young people come to know and love Christ through the way we live, learn, and relate to one another. This mission calls us to form communities where faith is lived out daily, where relationships matter deeply, and where each person is invited to grow into the person God has created them to be.

Our Catholic identity reminds us that families are the first and most important educators in faith. The way we speak, act, forgive, and show compassion within our homes reflects the Gospel in action. As parents and caregivers, who we are for our children shapes not only their character but also their understanding of Christ’s love. Catholic schools seek to support families in this sacred responsibility, recognising that faith formation is strongest when school and home work together. In this partnership, we create a consistent message for our young people—that they are loved, valued, and called to live with purpose and compassion.

Gathering in prayer and celebrating Mass together is a central expression of this shared faith. It is in these moments that we come together as one body, united in Christ, giving thanks and seeking guidance. The Eucharist reminds us that we are not alone—we are part of something much greater than ourselves. As members of the Church, we are connected to communities across the world who gather in the same spirit of faith, hope, and love. Coming together as a Catholic community strengthens our sense of belonging and reminds us that our faith is both personal and communal, lived in relationship with others.

At St Brigid’s, we are proud to be a school that is truly Church—a place where faith is not only taught but experienced through prayer, liturgy, and community life. Our College Prayer beautifully captures who we are and who we are called to be: “Inflame our hearts and minds in Christ, so that we may have the courage to live out our call to love as His disciples.” This prayer is more than words; it is a guiding vision that shapes our actions, our relationships, and our commitment to one another. It calls us to be people of wisdom, compassion, stewardship, and courage, reflecting the life and example of Christ in all that we do.

We warmly invite all families to continue growing in this shared journey of faith by joining us at our Family Mass each term. These occasions are a special opportunity to gather, to pray, and to celebrate as one community. They remind us that we are united not only as a school, but as a faith community grounded in Christ. Together, in partnership with families, we remain committed to forming young people whose hearts and minds are truly inflamed in Christ—young people who will carry the light of faith into the world and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
