Courage – Standing Strong in Faith

Back

Courage is about standing strong in faith and doing what is right, even when it is challenging.

Congratulations to the following Year 11 students who demonstrated courage in nominating themselves for leadership. Each student is called to live out our College values daily, serving as a witness to Christ’s teachings both within St Brigid’s and the wider community. We commend these students for their courage, commitment, and determination in presenting their speeches at House Assemblies. Each candidate shared insights into their interests, reasons for applying, leadership vision, and personal experiences, while clearly demonstrating leadership capabilities aligned with the College Foundations.

Year 11 Leadership Nominees:

  • Kildare House: Kye McD, Peyton B, Sasha W
  • Terry House: Kate G, Mason E, Tristan F, Hayden G
  • Lakes House: Braith M
  • Walker House: TJ R, Hope L

We also extend our sincere thanks to our current Year 12 leaders, who will conclude their roles early next term as they focus on their Trial and HSC examinations. Students and staff were invited to vote on the suitability of each nominee. Mr Murdoch will interview shortlisted candidates to determine positions of Captain, Vice Captain, Ministry Leader and House Leader, taking into account voting data, speech content, and each student’s skills and experience. We wish these students every success.

As you are aware, Vinnies NSW is a Catholic charity that supports thousands of individuals and families experiencing financial hardship and housing insecurity. This year’s Winter Appeal theme, “Homelessness can be just one sudden crisis away,” highlights the reality faced by many vulnerable people. It reminds us of the lasting impact of homelessness, and the challenges individuals continue to face. Throughout this term, we encourage students and staff to support the Winter Appeal within their Houses by donating food essentials, hygiene products, toiletries, clothing, blankets and sleeping bags.

Through our core values of Compassion and Stewardship, we are called to care for those most in need. Your support plays a vital role in responding to this call.

Finally, love is reflected beyond our College community through the many volunteers who support organisations assisting those in need. Dr Amanda Eades (Director of Teaching and Learning) and Joyce Ison (Assistant Principal – Student Achievement) recently attended the Lions Club of Gwandalan Annual Donations Dinner, where they met volunteers dedicated to raising significant funds for community initiatives.

It was inspiring to see the impact of these contributions and the gratitude shown by the organisations supported. It was also wonderful to see members of the St Brigid’s community, including students and their families, involved in these efforts.

We thank the Lions Club for their generous donation, which will assist the College in providing awards for our students.

Damien Tomsett,

Assistant Principal – Evangelisation & Catechesis
