The Law in Action!

Back

Our Year 9 Commerce students had the valuable opportunity to visit Wyong Courthouse and experience the judicial system in action.

Throughout the day, students observed a range of legal proceedings, including mentions, hearings, sentencings and video appearances involving defendants in detention. The visit provided a firsthand insight into the many roles that contribute to the operation of the NSW Local Court.

Students were also fortunate to hear from several Magistrates, who generously shared their knowledge and invited questions about the legal system and their careers. In addition, two Police Prosecutors and a Social Worker guided students through parts of the Courthouse and Police Station, providing a deeper understanding of the justice system and the professionals who work within it.

This engaging and informative excursion brought classroom learning to life and provided students with a memorable insight into the workings of the Australian legal system.
