Walking Together

Back

In the words of Saint John Paul II, from his Alice Springs address to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, “the Church herself in Australia will not be fully the Church that Jesus wants her to be until you have made your contribution to her life and until that contribution has been joyfully received by others.”

We have a divine duty as a system of Catholic schools to work in partnership with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities to lead the way in reconciliation. To support our schools on this journey toward best practice, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture and Education Team will be sharing a range of resources. We look forward to providing news and updates from this work in future newsletter articles.

On Friday 22 May, four of our students participated in the collection of the Message Stick from MacKillop Catholic College, continuing this important symbol of connection and shared journey. The Message Stick will next be passed on to St Brendan’s as we continue to walk together across our learning community.

Our Principal, Mr Murdoch, recently participated in a Walk on Country on our College grounds. This meaningful experience deepens understanding, respect, and connection to Country, further enriching our commitment to reconciliation and the ongoing development of our College.
