College Community

During the last few weeks of Term 2, students were exploring drama texts in English, developing their understanding of script features such as dialogue, stage directions, and characterisation. As part of this learning, students worked collaboratively in small groups to select a Dreaming story and adapt it into a performance script.

Throughout the project, students developed important teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills as they shared ideas, negotiated decisions, and supported one another to bring their plays to life. Many groups overcame challenges such as adapting traditional stories into script format, remembering lines, coordinating performances, and ensuring every group member had a meaningful role. By working through these challenges together, students demonstrated resilience, cooperation, and persistence.

Students also explored the role of costuming in drama by creating masks to represent their characters and help engage their audience. Performing their scripts provided a valuable opportunity for students to build confidence in public speaking and presentation skills while showcasing their creativity and understanding of storytelling.

It has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm, collaboration and growth our students have demonstrated throughout this unit. Their performances reflected not only their developing understanding of drama but also their ability to work effectively as a team and bring stories to life in creative and engaging ways.
