Alight Youth Ministry

What is Youth Ministry?

Why is Youth Ministry important?

Alight Youth Ministry at the College is a vibrant community of students and staff connected to the wider Diocese of Broken Bay, as well as national and international networks. Its mission is to accompany and support young people on their faith journey throughout their school years, helping them come to know and live the Catholic faith, its practices, and its traditions. Youth Ministry seeks to build students’ confidence and develop their leadership skills so they can serve as disciples within their communities. It provides opportunities for students to deepen their personal relationship with God, form meaningful friendships with like‑minded peers, and participate in experiences that are safe, welcoming, and life‑giving. Students choose to volunteer in activities and events across the year according to their interests and availability, allowing them to engage in ways that are authentic and meaningful to them.

Youth Ministry is vital because the teenage years can feel like a roller coaster, filled with questions, change, and discovery. It provides young people with the guidance they need to navigate this season of life, supporting them as they develop a strong sense of identity and purpose. Through Youth Ministry, teens encounter life‑giving relationships and friendships that ground them, while also forming meaningful connections with Jesus, others, and themselves. It creates a safe, faith‑filled environment where they can grow in confidence, learn leadership and practical life skills, and embrace opportunities they may only experience once in a lifetime.

Who can get involved?

All students and staff!

There are some events that are aimed at a specific age group and other events that are open to all year groups. Most events are free and some have a cost. Some events occur once a year, some each term and others weekly.
