Term 3 Reflection: A Season of Renewal and Purpose

By September 12, 2025 No Comments

As Term 3 slowly draws to a close and the season of Spring begins to unfold around us, we are reminded of the beauty of renewal—of growth, hope, and the promise of new beginnings. In our Catholic tradition, this time also brings the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, a powerful reminder of Christ’s sacrifice and the strength we find in faith, even in times of challenge. It is through the Cross that we are called to live with courage, compassion, and love.

This term at St Brigid’s has been one of looking forward and preparing for the next stage. Our Year 8 students took their first steps in shaping their learning journey by selecting electives for Year 9 in 2026, exploring their interests and passions. Our Year 10 students engaged in deeper discernment, choosing their senior study patterns and considering possibilities beyond Year 12—whether in further education, work, or apprenticeships.

We also gathered as a community to celebrate Fathers and father figures, acknowledging the profound influence they have in shaping our character and guiding us with strength and love. These moments of connection remind us of the importance of family and the many ways we are supported in our journey.

Each week, we continued to recognise the efforts of our students through merit awards—catching them “doing it right.” These acknowledgements reflect the everyday acts of kindness, perseverance, effort and leadership that make our school community so special.

As Term 3 concludes, we turn our hearts and offer our prayers to our Year 12 students, celebrating the contributions they have made throughout their time at St Brigid’s College. Their legacy is one of service, growth, and faith, and we are proud of the example they set for others.

At the heart of all these moments are our staff, who consistently model our college values of compassion, wisdom, courage, and stewardship. It is deeply rewarding to see our students reflect these values in their own actions. One beautiful example this term was our Diversity class, who collected bottles and cans as part of a sustainability initiative. This project not only supported environmental stewardship but also allowed students to apply their numeracy skills in a real-world context, showing how learning can be both practical and purposeful.

As we enter Spring—a season of light, growth, and renewal—may we be inspired by the Cross to live with purpose and love. May we continue to nurture the gifts within each student, and may our community remain a place where faith and learning flourish together.

God bless,

Mrs Joyce Ison
